2026 ELECTIONS

Primary Elections

A primary election is conducted so that voters can select candidates for a subsequent election (this is called the nominating primary). Primary elections allow each political party to determine its nominee for the upcoming general election.

There is a Primary Election in June 2026

  • NY State Senate District 54 - Currently there are two Democratic candidates, Scott Comegys and Michael Mills, vying for the opportunity to go up against incumbent Republican Pam Helming

  • US Congress District 24 - Two candidates, Diana Kastenbaum and Alissa Ellman, are hoping to unseat incumbent Republican Claudia Tenney in the House of Representatives

 

  • Ontario County Treasurer - Julio Chavez-Olivera is running against incumbent Republican Jeff Trickler. The last time a Democrat sought election as Ontario County treasurer was 1994. ​​​​

PRIMARY ELECTION DAY

June 23, 2026, 6 AM - 9 PM
Early Voting In Person from Saturday June 13 thru Sunday June 21

Who can vote in this primary?

  • Only registered voters enrolled in the Democratic Party living in Ontario County

How can I vote?

  • In Person - at your poll site on Election Day (June 23) or at an Early Voting Poll Site (June 13-21)

  • By Mail - You can vote by mail by submitting an application for:

    • Early Vote By Mail (any registered voter may apply)

    • Absentee Ballot (If you are out of the county on Election Day, ill or physically unable to vote in person)

    • Accessible Ballot (If you have a print disability such as blindness, low vision, dyslexia, dysgraphia, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities that limit writing abilities)
