Here are the highlights from the August 19, 2008, Town of Canandaigua Board meeting.
There were no public hearings.
Privilege of the Floor: Kevin Olvaney, Canandaigua Lake Watershed Manager, gave the Town Board a summary of the "Draft Canandaigua Lake Boat Use and Carrying Capacity Analysis." He is in the process of presenting this to all of the municipalities around Canandaigua Lake. The report uses several different methods to arrive at a recommended carrying capacity of boats on the lake. The purpose of the analysis is to help the municipalities decide whether the current laws are meeting the intended purpose of multiple-use balance and water quality of the lake. Public comments will be accepted until September 23, 2008. You can view the entire document at the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Council Web site (new window) (the draft report itself [411 KB PDF file, new window]).
Committee Reports:
Resolutions: The Board voted to raise the Parks and Recreation fee from $500.00 to $1000.00 effective immediately. The Board also voted to have the DOT conduct speed studies on Wells Curtis Rd., Johnson Rd., Cramer Rd., Rock Hill Rd., Wyffels Rd., and part of Middle Cheshire Rd. The State DOT study will come back to the Town with analysis of whether or not we need to adjust the speed limits on these roads.
The purchase of development rights (PDR) vote that was scheduled for August 20, 2008, was canceled by a Town Board at a special meeting on August 7, 2008. The Town is requesting an extension to June 2009 from the State for the deadline of the grant associated with the Wyffels property PDR. If the State grants the extension, there will be a public hearing scheduled and a vote by the Town Board.
